University Hits Its Way Past DeLand To Win 3-0
University won its third consecutive 9A-2 game with a 10-hit attack Tuesday, as it beat DeLand 3-0 to remain undefeated.
The Titans (6-0) scored in the first, third and fourth innings to extend their winning streak to six games.
University set the tone early. After a groundout, Cody Vandehey and Michael Harkcom hit back-to-back doubles. Jacob Molle, who finished 3-for-4 with a run and RBI to lead the Titans’ offense, singled to right to bring in Vandehey.
University added to its lead with two outs in the top of the third. Molle reached base and made it all the way to third on an error before Timothy Dixon singled him in.
The Titans made it 3-0 the next inning. After a groundout, Jackson Roberts tripled and scored on Nathan Peden’s single to center. The Bulldogs (4-4) turned a 6-4-3 double play to get out of the inning.
Harkcom and Roberts finished with two hits for the Titans, who host Seabreeze on Thursday before another matchup with the Bulldogs on Friday.
Ben Rowdon and Matthew Sadlon each had two hits apiece to pace the Bulldogs.
Logan Allen struck out 13, allowed three hits and walked none over five innings to get the win for University. Closer Trevor Sozio put away the final six outs to record the save.
