Bishop Moore Walks Off 1-0 Against Edgewater
After strong pitching from both sides on Friday night, it was the home team coming through for the only run of the night in the bottom of the seventh inning. Gabe Scavone scored on an RBI single from Quinton Martinez to walk it off as Bishop Moore prevailed 1-0 over Edgewater.
Scavone started off the seventh by roping a triple to left field. After a strikeout to the next batter the Eagles countered with a pair of intentional walks to set up a force and try to get out of trouble with a double play that would have forced extra innings. Instead Martinez jumped on an offering and lined it through the right side.
Justin Moran earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief in which he walked one and struck out two. Josh Bates delivered a strong performance with five innings of scoreless baseball. Bates struck out six while issuing three walks, and Noah Orlando recorded the Eagles’ only hit of the night.
Edgewater starter Josh Wilson matched the Hornets’ pitching, tossing six scoreless frames. Wilson scattered three hits and two walks and recorded 11 strikeouts.
