DeLand’s Jeff Mulroney Pitches 3-0 Shutout Over Lake Mary

Jeff Mulroney set the tone on the mound and the DeLand offense supplied enough run support to pave the way to a 3-0 shutout victory over Lake Mary in a 9A-2 district quarterfinal played at Sanford Memorial Stadium on Monday. Mulroney struck out four while allowing three hits and two walks on 93 total pitches to earn the win and advance his Bulldogs (12-8-1) to a semifinal meeting with top-seeded Orange City University.

Ben Rowdon singled and scored on an RBI from Austin Huber, while Hunter Corbett drove in a pair with a two-RBI single. Huber and Stevie Moffatt were both 2-for-3 with a run.

Josh Joseph and Jonathan Burkett both singled and Jared Battista doubled for Lake Mary (8-14), but all were stranded on the bases. Todd Peterson took a tough loss despite a quality start, as he also went the distance. Peterson struck out 10 and surrendered two earned runs on seven hits and a walk.
