Boone Tops Lake Nona 4-3 In Extra Innings
The Boone Braves overcame an early deficit Wednesday against Lake Nona earning a district win in extra innings with a 4-3 decision. In the eighth, Christian Amlong led off the inning with a single to center field. Then, with two outs, Austin Coble came up big by doubling to left field to score Amlong for the lead.
The Braves get off to a win in 9A-4, while improving to 3-1 overall.
The Lions (2-2) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning when Juan Fortique singled to right-center scoring one batter later when Gabriel Ferrer doubled to left-field. A single to right field by Colin Macapagal pushed Ferrer across.
Boone got their scoring going in the third when Austin Coble led off the inning with a line-drive double to left field, scoring on Jack Dixon’s double to right-center. The Braves tied the game in the fifth when Clayotn Powell walked and then promptly stole second and third base. Jack Dixon singled on a line drive to right field, his third hit of the game, scoring Powell and giving him two RBI’s.
The lions played long ball in the fifth, taking back the lead on a home run by Edgar Brito to center field. The Braves came back in sixth, tying the score on a single by Christian Amlong and double by Howard Rodriguez, which set up the extra-inning come back.
