Hagerty Says No No To Westminster Academy
The Hagerty Huskies used three pitchers Friday night to throw their first no hitter of the season in a 5-0 victory over Westminster Academy. Angelo Garcia started for Hagerty, throwing four innings of no-hit ball while striking out four to earn the win. He was relieved by Bailey Wendel who went two innings before Riley Greene closed out the game.
Hagerty (3-2) was able to score early in the game to take the pressure of the pitching staff. After loading the bases in the first inning on three straight walks Riley Greene and Brian Ellis were able to score on a fielder’s choice and error.
The Huskies added a run in the second inning and then went to work again in the third. Cameron Alba led off the inning with a single to center field, and reached second on a fielder’s choice. After advancing to third base on an error Vincent Phillips singled to center-field to score Alba. Vaughn Grissom followed up by scoring from third on another fielder’s choice to complete the scoring and give Hagerty a 5-0 lead.
Westminster Academy did receive strong relief pitching late in the game as Logan O’Neil and Christian Petrisko combined to throw 3 innings of no-hit ball while striking out six.
